Quercetin

Fisetin's older cousin in the senolytic conversation.

Quercetin is a flavonoid in onions, apples, and capers. We grade Quercetin C- on evidence and C for worth-it at about $12-18 per month.

C

Worth it

Typical cost: $12-18/month

What it does

Quercetin is a flavonoid in onions, apples, and capers. It gained longevity attention paired with dasatinib in early senolytic trials; on its own, the human evidence is thin.

What the research says

  • May support senolytic protocols in combination

Evidence: emerging. Early human data is for the dasatinib combination, not quercetin alone.

  • Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects

Evidence: moderate. Well characterized in vitro; clinical significance unclear.

  • May add knee-extension force during resistance training

Evidence: emerging. Older adults taking quercetin during 6 weeks of resistance training produced more knee-muscle force, but did not improve functional tasks like chair-rise. Small study.

DRAFT: interesting only in combination contexts; standalone human data is weak.

What the experts say

Every position links to its source. We include skeptics alongside supporters.

  • David Sinclair

Source, 2026-10-13 Previously took 500 mg quercetin with fisetin daily as a senolytic; stated on his Lifespan podcast that he takes fisetin and quercetin, though he has since favored fisetin.

  • James Kirkland

“I want to emphasize that no one should take these drugs. This research is only beginning.”

Source, 2019-12-31 Ran the first human senolytic trial (dasatinib plus quercetin) in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis patients; all 14 showed improved physical function, but he stresses it was a small safety trial and nobody should take these drugs off-label.

Is it worth it?

C

DRAFT: cheap, but the standalone case is thin.

Typical cost

$12-18/month

Common form, not a brand recommendation

Dosage contextemerging

500 to 1,000 mg per day in most trials.

Safety notes

Generally safe at typical doses. Can interact with some medications via enzyme effects. Talk to your doctor. This page is information, not medical advice.
