Tesofensine
The once-promising obesity pill stuck in regulatory limbo.
Tesofensine is a triple monoamine reuptake inhibitor (serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine) developed for Parkinson's, then pivoted to obesity. We grade Tesofensine C+ on evidence and D for worth-it at about not commercially available as an approved product per month.

What it does
Tesofensine is a triple monoamine reuptake inhibitor (serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine) developed for Parkinson's, then pivoted to obesity. A 2008 Phase 2 RCT showed 10.6% body-weight loss at 0.5 mg over 24 weeks, but it was never FDA or EMA approved and never completed Phase 3.
What the research says
Weight loss in one Phase 2 RCT
Evidence: moderate. TIPO-1 trial: 10.6% at 0.5 mg/24 weeks. Single trial from 2008; The Lancet later published an expression of concern about adverse-event reporting completeness.
DRAFT: one real Phase 2 RCT, but from 2008, with a reporting cloud over it and no Phase 3 ever completed.
Is it worth it?
DRAFT: not approved anywhere; available only as gray-market research chemical or compounded product with no standardized manufacturing.
Typical cost
not commercially available as an approved product/month
Common form, not a brand recommendation
Dosage contextno established dose
No approved human dose exists. Phase 2 studied 0.25-1.0 mg/day; these were trial doses, not recommendations.
Safety notes
