What it does

Fadogia agrestis stem extract raised testosterone and sexual-behavior measures in male rats, putatively by stimulating luteinizing hormone. There are no published human trials for any use.

What the research says

  • Raised testosterone and improved sexual-behavior parameters in male rats

Evidence: weak. Yakubu et al. (University of Ilorin) found dose-dependent testosterone changes over 5 days of dosing; all human extrapolation is untested

  • Any libido or testosterone benefit in humans is unproven

Evidence: needs verification. Zero published human clinical trials exist for fadogia agrestis for any use

The entire evidence base is a handful of animal studies from one research group. No human efficacy data and no human safety data; the same group published dose-dependent testicular harm in rodents.

Is it worth it?

D

Zero human data plus a real animal toxicity signal makes this a poor spend at any price until human safety and efficacy data exist.

Typical cost

$15-25/month

Common form, not a brand recommendation

Dosage contextno established dose

No human-tested dose exists. Do not use the 300-600 mg/day doses marketed by supplement brands; they are guesses, not evidence.

Safety notes

No human safety data exists. Yakubu et al. 2008 (PMID 18023305) found dose-dependent testicular harm and increased oxidative damage markers at 50-100 mg/kg in rats over 28 days, with recovery only at the lower traditional-equivalent dose (18 mg/kg). Examine.com states no dosage can be recommended. Avoid entirely unless human safety data appears.
